Glosario técnico
La terminología de la limpieza láser se escribió en inglés y llega al español traducida de muchas maneras distintas. Esta es la que usamos en todo el sitio, con el término original al lado para que pueda contrastarla con la documentación del fabricante.
El proceso

- Not «limpieza con láser» and not «limpieza por láser». Fixed form, always.
- ablación láser laser ablation
- ablación selectiva selective ablation
- The core mechanism. Jamie's own explainer leads with it — so do we.
- láser pulsado de fibra pulsed fiber laser
- onda continua (OC) continuous wave (CW)
- Introduce the contrast once as «onda continua (CW)» — the English initialism is what appears on equipment.
- decapado láser paint removal / depainting
- «Decapado» is the trade word and outranks «eliminación de pintura» for a professional reader. Use «eliminación de pintura» only when explaining «decapado» for the first time.
- eliminación de óxido rust removal
- «Óxido» is the working term across LatAm. «Herrumbre» is correct but reads bookish; keep it for variety, never as the primary.

- One «f». «Grafiti» is the RAE form; «graffiti» is an anglicism and looks careless.

- The environmental argument. No media, no solvents, no secondary waste stream.

- The single most important word on the site. Everything we claim is about removing the contaminant and not the sustrato.

- «Aluminio», not «aluminio». Common misspelling.
- revestimiento del fuselaje aircraft skin
- capa de revestimiento puro (clad) clad layer (Alclad)
- Keep «clad» in parentheses — it is what the maintenance manuals say.
- remache rivet
- álabe de turbina turbine blade
- «Álabe», not «aspa» and not «cuchilla». Aeronautical standard.
- soldadura weld / welding
- molde mold
- barniz varnish
- hollín / daño por humo soot / smoke damage
- piedra stone
- madera wood
- escultura sculpture
- pátina patina
- In conservation work the pátina is often what the client wants KEPT. Never describe removing it as a benefit.
Parámetros del láser

- Real divergence. LatAm says «promedio», Spain says «media». FP-300: 300 W.

- J/cm². The parameter that decides whether the sustrato survives.
- haz beam
- «El haz». Masculine. Not «la haz».
- diámetro del haz spot size

- zona afectada por el calor (ZAC) heat-affected zone (HAZ)
- Minimising the ZAC is the whole argument for pulsed over CW. Introduce the initialism once, then reuse.
- ciclo de trabajo duty cycle

- Trolley model. The aviation machine. Never translated, never localised.
- FP-300c FP-300c
- Rolling-case / suitcase model. LOWERCASE c. Never FP-300C.

- Sistema de Gestión de la Seguridad Operacional (SMS) Safety Management System (SMS)
- «Seguridad operacional» — the ICAO Spanish term. Plain «seguridad» means physical safety and loses the meaning.

- MRO MRO
- Left in English across the Spanish-speaking aviation industry. Gloss it once as «mantenimiento, reparación y revisión general», then use MRO.
- aeronavegabilidad airworthiness
- ensayos no destructivos (END) non-destructive testing (NDT)
- «END» is the established initialism. Do not invent «PND».
- ANSI Z136 ANSI Z136
- Standard designations are never translated.

- The sharpest divergence in this glossary. «Cotización» on laserpulso.com; «presupuesto» on featherpulse.es. Getting this backwards instantly marks the site as foreign.
